I just finished painting this wall for the new Batman movie
coming out in a couple weeks.

I finished painting another one of these Ford Focus things today.
That Ford logo is a big sticker.

What a mess.

I was working on a west facing wall, so I (and my cans) got direct sunlight from noon on. I felt like one of those zombies from I am Legend as the cast shadow from the building got shorter and shorter.

Hot cans that have been sitting in the sun for a little while are o-kay for large area fades, but suck for doing any kind of detail work. So I’ve been putting the cans I use for detail work on ice to lower the air pressure in the cans, works like a charm. Hot air expands and cold air contracts (in case you ditched physics class).

Over 40 artists are donating artwork to raise funds to support the Venice Art Walls program. Due to the City of Los Angeles budget crises, all City of LA funding is likely to be cut. The program is only funded through July 1, 2008. Without funding the program to issue permits to paint in the area will be ended. Without a permit program the area will be closed to painting and will be susceptible to closure and possible removal. We are having this benefit art auction to keep the program alive until we can secure more substantial long-term funding through grants or other sources. The majority of the artwork will be sold in a silent auction with a few important works being auctioned in the live auction. We will also have a raffle for goods and services that are being donated by businesses and individuals. Tickets will be sold in advance as well as at the door the night of the event. Please come out and support the Venice Art Walls – an important cultural historic landmark and a Venice art resource.

These are flicks of a job I just finished painting this past [+100°F (that’s “F” for f@#k’n HOT)] weekend. It’s a 3 part mural, for a Sierra Mist product tie in with the Get Smart movie, that was completed over the course of the last 3 weekends.
